Left lateral rectus palsy
« Reply #1 on: July 15, 2011, 08:18:03 AM »
Q: Hello I am 21 New Zealander who was involved in a motor vehicle accident a few years back and as a result of my head injury my left eye can not move to the left. I have been told by the best
optician here in New Zealand that there is nothing i can do to fix it which I find hard to believe, so I was just wondering if you know of something that could be done about it.
A: What you are describing sounds like a left lateral rectus palsy. This is sometimes the result of head injury with damage to the left 6th cranial nerve. A good idea would be to check with an ophthalmologist specializing in eye muscle surgery. Many times these are pediatric ophthalmologists. There are surgeries for this in many instances.
