ReSTOR® multifocal IOL (intra-ocular lens) is an intraocular lens developed by Alcon. It offers both far and near vision following cataract surgery or refractive lens exchange. Performed under local anesthesia in a sterile operating room, the crystalline lens of the eye is removed and a ReSTOR® IOL of a power appropriate for the particular eye is then inserted in its place. It is possible to see far and near and to be largely glasses free. The near vision with the original Restor multifocal intraocular lens is best at about 11 to 14 inches.
