Cataract, dry eyes and allergy
« Reply #1 on: July 15, 2011, 11:56:30 AM »
Q: I have had red eyes for long time (at least for 8 years). I'm not sure if it's getting redder. But recently my eyes feel more dry, itching, and painful. I went to the doctor, who gave me the diagnosis of "senile nuclear sclerosis". After reading some information about cataract, I feel I'm not quite convinced. I would really appreciate if you could give me some suggestions.
A: Dry, itchy, painful eyes are not caused by "senile nuclear sclerosis" (another name for early cataract). Two common causes for these symptoms are dry eyes and allergy. Dry eyes are treated with artificial tears and allergy, with anti-allergic medications.
